Get To Know Us

Hello and welcome to our farm.  We are Stena and Andrew (Andy) Lieb.  We run a third-generation farm near Lanesboro, MN with our five children.  On our farm, we grow mushrooms year-round indoors, cultivate mushrooms outdoors on beds, totems and logs and forage wild mushrooms that grow throughout the farm.  In addition to mushroom production, we maintain vegetable and herb gardens and forage edible plants to make into unique treats.  We raise chickens, ducks, geese and peacocks for eggs and feathers.  We also help raise a small herd of black angus cattle along with our parents.

Stena- Stena has lived her entire life on this farm.  She attended college at Winona State University where she earned her teaching degree in K-12 Visual Arts.  She has been the full-time art teacher at Lanesboro Public School since 2017.  Stena helps to run One-Act Play and directed the school play in 2022.  Stena helps to run Girl Scout Troop 47985 and is active in Cub Scout Pack 49 in Lanesboro.  Stena has hosted Community Education courses on needle felting, watercolors, children’s painting, silk scarf marbling and ceramics.  Stena has participated in the Empty Bowls Project helping to raise funds for the Fillmore County Food Shelf

The Farm- Lieb Family Farm is nestled amongst the North Branch of Root River and Trout Run Creek.  The farm includes 75 acres of woodland perfect for foraging, 110 acres of tillable land and more than a mile of shoreline.  Tillable acreage is utilized for corn, soybean and hay production.  Non-tillable acreage is used for pasturing our herd of black angus cattle and their calves.

Our Land-  It is important for us to take care of the land and engage in practices that preserve its beauty, its value and its native state.  We use practices such as crop rotation to give our crop land an opportunity to recover from usage.  We have utilized recovery periods for certain plots which allows them a chance to rejuvenate the soil over a period of years.  We work to remove non-native growth from the property throughout the year.
